A regular search is required for all positions. If there are unusual circumstances where a regular search would result in an adverse impact on the university, waiving the search may be appropriate.
Types of search waiver requests include:
- Full Search Waiver - an identified candidate is hired without conducting a search (sometimes called a targeted hire)
- Dual Career Hire - the partner/spouse of the top candidate of another search is hired
- Advertising Waiver - a search is limited to University or department employees and/or the required advertising period is shortened
- Pool Position Waiver - one pool of applicants is used to make multiple hires
To request a search waiver, you must first create a requisition in PeopleAdmin for the hire. Then complete and submit a waiver request form. If you have questions as to whether a waiver of the search requirement is appropriate, please call the IEC office.
